As Senior Director of Consumer Reports’ 327-acre Auto Test Center in Colchester, Connecticut, Jake Fisher oversees the entire auto testing program, which includes everything from vehicles to tires to car seat testing. He drives the Consumer Reports automotive strategy and manages a team of dedicated automotive engineers, statisticians, and support staff.
Since he joined Consumer Reports in 1999, Jake has been instrumental in all areas of vehicle testing and reliability analysis. His passion for cars and expert driving can be seen in many of CR’s videos.
Jake holds a degree in mechanical engineering with a concentration in human factors in design and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Before CR, he worked at General Motors as a development engineer. He gained extensive experience at GM’s design headquarters in Detroit, at the company’s desert proving grounds, and at various manufacturing plants.
Jake has competed in wheel-to-wheel car racing and participated in club racing, endurance racing, autocrosses, rallies, time trials, ice races, and drift-racing competitions. More recently, he’s been competing in human-powered races including completing the Ironman Triathlon.
