Talking Cars 441: 2024 New York Auto Show Highlights
We discuss the focus on less-expensive cars
Main theme: This week the Talking Cars crew is coming to you from the New York International Auto Show to cover the latest car and SUV reveals. Aside from all the glitz and glamor that usually accompany new-car introductions, what most impressed the team is how it seems manufacturers are putting more emphasis on affordability.
For example, what we noticed about the Honda display was that it included several variations of Civics as well as the new all-electric Prologue SUV, which we also talk about. The Nissan booth had several Sentras, which didn’t exactly steal the spotlight from the new Kicks but were still quite prominent. And with the absence of high-end brands such as Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, it almost seemed preordained that smaller and relatively inexpensive models took center stage.
Along with our impressions of the new Prologue, we also discuss the newly introduced Kicks, Kia K4, Subaru Forester, and Toyota Camry. Keep in mind that all of these will retail for far less than the average price of a new car, which hovers around $47,000.
