It’s not easy finding the perfect overnight diaper. You want a diaper that’s very absorbent to ensure your baby has more restful sleep. You also want something that is good at keeping moisture away from your baby’s skin so they stay comfortable and are less likely to develop diaper rash.

Other Diapers We Tested
Diapers we tested that didn’t make the cut for our recommendations include Pampers Swaddlers Overnights, Millie Moon Disposable Overnight Diapers, Huggies Overnights, and Sposie Overnight Diaper Booster Pads. Most did decently in our dryness tests, so if you use these, your baby’s butt is likely to stay dry once the diapers have absorbed all the liquids.
However, many of these weren’t as stellar at absorption speed, which made them more susceptible to leaks. In particular, the Sposie Overnight Diaper Booster Pads, which are pads you can insert into any diaper to help boost its absorption performance, were the slowest to absorb liquids out of all the diapers we tested.
How CR Tests Overnight Diapers
We performed these two tests on size 4 diapers on 10 popular overnight diapers.
Absorption speed: We used four batches of saline totaling 140 milliliters, with each dosage timed five minutes apart, and measured how long it took for the diaper to absorb the last dose. The speedier the diaper’s absorption rate, the shorter the amount of time your baby’s skin will be exposed to urine.
Dryness: We look at whether a diaper is capable of retaining liquids after it has absorbed it. To do this, we placed a folded paper towel under a weight on top of the diaper five minutes after the last saline dosage. We then weighed the paper towel to see how much moisture the diaper released.
